The integration nobody understands any more, the service that falls over every release, code written by people who left long ago. I read my way in, get tests around it and rewrite the parts that keep causing trouble, until your team can touch it again without holding its breath.
From empty repository to running service: interface, API, database, deployment and the pipeline that keeps it shipping. One person across the whole stack, so nothing falls through the cracks and nobody is waiting on anyone else.
Eight years as a lead developer. Code review, architecture decisions and helping colleagues along, next to the building itself. If there is no product owner, I take on that role too: gathering requirements, setting priorities and keeping the backlog in order.

I’ve been building software since 2007, and before that at home on an Amiga 500. Since 2021 I’ve worked for myself, so I get to choose the work: the piece a team is stuck on, the product that has to ship, the code nobody dares touch any more.
I like using what I build. QuickLifts exists because I wanted to log my training without the fuss, BenchScope because I needed a microscope at the soldering bench. So when something doesn’t feel right, I’m the first to notice.
I work from Hillegom, remotely or on site, in Dutch or English. I write down what I did and why, and hand over work your team can build on.
