The integration nobody understands, the service that breaks every release, the codebase written by people who have left. I read it, get it under test, and refactor the parts that hurt until your team can change it without holding its breath.
From empty repository to running service: interface, API, database, deployment and the pipeline that keeps it shipping. One person across the stack, so nothing is lost in handovers and no part waits on someone else.
Eight years as lead developer. Code review, architecture decisions and mentoring alongside the work. Where a team has no product owner, I take that seat too: requirements, priorities and the backlog.

04 · About
I write software for a living and have done since 2007. Before that it was an Amiga 500, QBasic and a lot of evenings. The web took over in 2002 and Linux a year later, and twenty years of both is why little in a running system surprises me.
In 2021 I started my own company so I could choose the work: systems that have grown complicated, teams that need a steady hand, products that have to ship. I work from Hillegom, in Dutch or English, with clients across the Netherlands and Europe.
